The development of mass sports, sports infrastructure and support for youth initiatives are key in the strategy of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, said Minister Ivan Peshev. He was speaking during his visit to Smolyan Municipality on Tuesday, the Ministry's press centre reported.

“The aim is to provide better conditions for the development and realization of the potential of young people in Smolyan and the region,” Peshev said.

Peshev met with Smolyan Municipality Mayor Nikolai Melemov and Regional Governor Zahari Sirakov. They discussed the state of the sports infrastructure in the town and the need to improve it. During the meeting, they also highlighted the possibilities of expanding and modernizing the sports halls, the development of grassroots sports and youth centres to promote active lifestyle among young people in the region.
