Pazardzhik, Southern Bulgaria, will host the 2025 Pentathlon World Cup, local administration said, adding that the event will be held from May 7 to May 11.

Hundreds of athletes from 31 countries around the world will participate in the competition, including Bulgaria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Chile, China, Czechia, Egypt, Estonia, France, Georgia, Great Britain, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and Turkiye.

The teams of Bulgaria, South Korea, Egypt, Belarus, Ukraine and Greece are already holding training camps in Pazardzhik due to the suitable new conditions, and the city will welcome for the first time in Bulgaria the leaders of the International Modern Pentathlon Federation (UIPM) - UIPM President Robert Stull, Secretary General Shiny Fang and Board Member Secretary General Shiny FengAndrea Del’amore. 

 In 2024, the country's first professional obstacle course was built in Pazardzhik, the new fifth discipline in modern pentathlon. This base is one of the few licensed according to the standards of the world federation and has turned the city into a strategic location for holding championships of the highest level, the Pazardzhik Municipality added.

In April, the State Modern Pentathlon Championship was held in Pazardzhik.
