Bulgarian swimmer Tsanko Tsankov swam 120 kilometres and 600 metres in the Danube River in 18 hours, 1 minute and 39 seconds without stopping. The athlete started from the village of Yasen, Vidin municipality, on Thursday at noon and finished at the Radetzky ship in Kozloduy early Friday.

The swimmer swam the Danube for the second time in two weeks, having covered 108 km on September 6. His team declared the achievement a world record, however, it later emerged that Romanian Bogdan Zurbagiu swam 115 km in the Danube in 2021.

On the eve of Tsankov's second swim in the Danube, the World Open Water Swimming Association announced that the Bulgarian's achievement from September 6 could not be ratified due to suspicions of manipulation of data.
