He gave a briefing on Monday and presented the Commission's weekly review of wholesale price changes for staple foods, fruits and vegetables.
The market is calm, with no negative developments, although there are signs of an autumn/winter price increase, especially for out-of-season fruits and vegetables. According to Ivanov, there are no distortions, only normal market interaction.
Ivanov added that onions, cabbage, grapes, lemons, apples and bananas became cheaper over the past week. The price of tomatoes and cucumbers increased, mainly due to seasonal factors.
The price of potatoes rose by BGN 0.11, green peppers by BGN 0.08, red peppers by BGN 0.14, courgettes by BGN 0.23 and watermelons by BGN 0.04. Pork rose by BGN 0.32, rice by BGN 0.10, and milk and yogurt by BGN 0.03 each. Egg prices remained stable over the past week.
Ivanov said that international wheat prices stabilized, adding that the grain market is balanced. There is an upward trend for cooking oil due to two bad years in a row.
