The Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) and the National Revenue Agency (NRA) carried out joint inspections of food and retail outlets located at Sofia's Vasil Levski Airport on Monday and found violations of the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria Act, the CPC announced.
The inspectors found that in some shops the prices of some goods were displayed only in levs, without being indicated in euros. Other violations included incorrect conversion from levs to euros; prices and currencies written in different fonts. Reports were drawn up, and sanctions will be imposed. The law provides for financial penalties of BGN 400 to BGN 7,000 for a first violation and BGN 14,000 for repeat offences, the CPC said.
The Commission continues to monitor strict compliance with the law on the Introduction of the Euro and once again calls on traders to fulfil their obligations in good faith, the CPC added.
