Experts from the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) and the National Revenue Agency (NRA) met with residents of the Nikolaevo Municipality to inform them about the main stages and deadlines of the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria from January 1, 2026.

The information meeting, part of the National Information Campaign for the Introduction of the Euro in Bulgaria, was attended by the Chief Inspector of the Stara Zagora CPC, Vasil Donev, and NRA Stara Zagora Office Director Galena Nedkova.

Donev emphasized that the purpose of these meetings is for citizens and business representatives to receive accessible information about the process in order for the transition to the new currency to happen transparently and peacefully. "Like any process, this one must also happen according to certain rules, set out in the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria Act," Donev pointed out.

As a main concern of the people, he highlighted the question of whether there will be an increase in the prices of goods, which the expert categorically refuted, as the CPC will monitor any unjustified price increases and take the appropriate measures. He added that inspections so far show that there is no intention to increase the prices of essential goods.

Nedkova informed the residents of how the NRA will assist in the transition from leva to euro and how it will proceed after January 1 with regard to filing tax returns, payments and using electronic services.

The meeting was also attended by Galina Kircheva, Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria Regional Coordinator for Stara Zagora Region, who provided information materials regarding labor and civil contracts after the introduction of the euro, as well as loans and obligations.
