GERB leader Boyko Borissov has conferred with Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Borissov said on his Facebook on Wednesday. Bulgaria and Turkiye have excellent bilateral partnership and good-neighbourly relations, and both countries’ constructive cooperation in the area of transport and connectivity is just one example of that, Borissov said.
He noted that both countries prioritize the development of new joint projects and initiatives aimed at increasing the capacity for south-north transport of passengers and cargo between the two countries. The growing volume of freight traffic calls for additional measures to streamline border procedures and expand the capacity of border checkpoints, Borissov told Uraloglu.
Bulgaria is actively working to optimize traffic at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, where 12 lanes are now operational. This country is interested in improving navigation conditions in the coastal waters of both countries to support maritime trade, Borissov added.
