Economy and Industry Minister Peter Dilov took part in the annual meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Ministerial Council in Paris, Dilov’s Ministry said in a press release on Tuesday. Dilov was part of the Bulgarian delegation led by Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev.

This year’s meeting focused on charting a course for sustainable and inclusive prosperity through rules-based trade, investment, and innovation. The event also provided an opportunity to present Bulgaria’s progress in the OECD accession process.

Dilov addressed a session on enhancing multilateral cooperation and a rules-based international trading system for more resilient global supply chains.

The Minister noted that OECD membership would unlock the potential of Bulgaria’s economy. “I am confident that adopting the organization’s values and best practices will send a strong signal to our trade partners and international investors,” he said.

Dilov emphasized that the OECD provides a platform for international dialogue and supports coordinated multilateral action. According to him, the organization plays a crucial role at a time when strengthened international cooperation is needed to address trade and investment disruptions.

“We support a global level playing field, the promotion of fair trade practices, the preservation of open market advantages, and the proper functioning of a rules-based global trading system,” Dilov said.

The Minister stressed the importance of boosting competitiveness, ensuring predictability, and strengthening the resilience of supply chains. “Crises know no borders, and international cooperation is essential in tackling them,” he added.

Dilov reaffirmed Bulgaria’s commitment to working closely with OECD member states to meet common challenges.

The OECD Ministerial Council meeting is the organization’s highest-level forum. It oversees OECD’s work, sets priorities, discusses global economic trends, and addresses matters such as the budget and accession processes. It gathers finance, economy, foreign affairs, and trade ministers from member and partner countries, along with representatives of international organizations. The Council meets at ministerial level once a year.
