Bulgarian tourism has started to grow in the last few years after a long period of wandering, Asen Ivanov, Editor-in-Chief of BTV News, said at the BG Tourism - Summer 2025 forum organized by BTA at the Grand Hotel Pomorie on Sunday.
According to him, the quality of the tourist product is increasing despite the exceptions in this industry. “In my opinion, Bulgarians have money for a higher service and if they get it once, they will forget about the long way to the Greek resorts and will travel for the weekend to the Bulgarian sea,” he was adamant.
Ivanov commented on the topic widely covered in the forum - how the media should cover information related to the tourist season and specifically the scandal with the oil slicks on the beach in Pomorie. “This is a prime example that the media should be seen as media and pseudo-media,” he said, adding that the national media had been checking this topic in all sorts of ways.
“We need information from businesses, from municipalities about what is happening with them,” Ivanov added. He stressed that BTV News tries not only to cover events in the capital, but also in small towns and in summer - for resorts.
