In 2023, Bulgaria had the EU’s fourth-lowest share of employed people who usually worked during weekends. They accounted for 9.9% of the country’s employed people, the Statistical Office of the European Commission (Eurostat) reported on its website on May Day.

Lower percentages were registered only in Lithuania (3.9%), Hungary (7.0%) and Poland (8.5%). The highest levels were observed in Greece (41.3%), Italy (35.2%) and France (29.3%).

Across the EU, 22.4% of employed people usually worked on weekends in 2023, Eurostat says. Working on weekends was more common among skilled agricultural, forestry and fishery workers (49.5%), service and sales workers (48.9%) and people with elementary occupations (26.7%).
