The Zashtita Trade Union is demanding that the new salaries for emergency care workers be paid immediately, Zashtita head Krassimir Mitov told reporters on Wednesday. The Union threatened to block the Hemus and Trakia motorways on September 4, if their demands are not met by then.
Representatives of the protesting outside the Health Ministry building and demanding the resignation of Minister of Health Hristo Hinkov over the delay in paying the increased salaries. Mitov said that the delayed payment is causing tension in the work of Emergency Aid.
on August 28, the Ministry Health said that the increased salaries will be paid in full to the the Emergency Care Centres employees by the end of October at the latest. The delay is due to a procedure for consideration and approval by the Council of Ministers of the additional BGN 30 million allocated for the Emergency Care Centres and Regional Health Inspectorates.
Deputy Health Minister Boyko Penkov told reporters that the salaries of emergency aid workers will increase by 22%.
Later in the day, the Bulgarian Emergency Medical Service Association, distanced itself from the protests by the Zashtita Trade Union in a statement posted on the association's Facebook page.
