In a press release on Tuesday, the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture and Food said that under an European Commission regulation officially published on June 5, the temporary ban on import of wheat, maize, rapeseed and sunflower has been extended by three months until September 15, 2023. The regulation also applies to Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

The Commission's assessment has shown that there are still significant logistical bottlenecks and limited storage capacity concerning these products, and that the infrastructure of Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia is still insufficient to cope with the increase in traffic.

The derogation that previously existed for contracts concluded before the entry into force of the regulation has been abolished, the Agriculture Ministry said.
