Caretaker Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov and Stasa Kosarac, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, signed Thursday a Memorandum of Understanding in tourism, Dimitrov's ministry said on its website.

Under the agreement, the parties undertake to promote the exchange of expert opinion and knowledge related to the organization, management and functioning of special forms of tourism. Underscoring that the memorandum is a very important tool for improving cooperation in the field between the two countries, Dimitrov underscored that it provides a very succinct legal basis for shared priorities in tourism. He also expressed hope to see future joint programmes promoting alternative forms of tourism, including eco tourism, rafting, or cultural and wine tourism, that would become an excellent example for a joint product on distant markets.

Dimitrov and Kosarac also discussed the opportunities to further successful practices in balneo and SPA tourism, as well as the development of health tourism. Better transport connectivity, more effective advertisement and increased investments in tourism were also on the agenda. Dimitrov invited his counterpart from Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in Bulgaria's largest Vacation and SPA International Tourism Fair, traditionally held in February every year.

The sides also discussed the possibility of creating a joint event to bring together the largest tourism entities from both countries - state institutions and private companies, and experts from the two ministries to form a joint working group in the second half of 2023. Information will also be exchanged on the most important tourism events of the two countries, including the most popular exhibitions and festivals.

Kosarac is in Sofia for the 68th Session of the UN World Tourism Organisation's Commission for Europe, which is hosted by Bulgaria.
