Deputy Minister of Agriculture Georgi Sabev and India's Ambassador to Bulgaria Sanjay Rana discussed the possibilities for bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture and agrarian science. The exchange of agricultural products between the two countries was another topic of the meeting, the Ministry of Agriculture said.

The diplomat pointed to the good partnership between the representatives of agricultural science in India with the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute in Plovdiv and stated that the Indian side would like to increase bilateral scientific projects.

Sabev informed Ambassador Rana about the activities of the Agricultural Academy, which carries out scientific research, applied activities and innovations in the field of agriculture and food. Rana also showed interest in Bulgarian rose production and the regions where tobacco is grown.

The Ambassador said that his country is showing strong interest in importing vegetable oils and beans, which are very widely consumed in India. He added that India intends to accelerate interaction with the countries of the European Union, including in the field of high technologies.

Last week, Bulgarian National Audit Office President Goritza Grancharova, presented the audit institution's gold plaque to Ambassador Sanjay Rana in appreciation of the great support and assistance from the Indian Embassy in Sofia for the development of cooperation between the audit institutions of the two countries.
