site.btaUPDATED Bulgaria Showcases SPA Tourism at Austria’s Largest Fair in Vienna
Bulgaria is taking part in Austria’s largest tourism fair, Ferien, held in Vienna, highlighting its modern urban, cultural, seaside and SPA tourism offerings that meet European standards.
The Bulgarian stand, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, features the municipalities of Sofia, Sozopol and Varna, the Albena resort, its Austrian distributor Intervega, as well as hotels from the HVD chain.
The main focus of Bulgaria’s participation this year is SPA tourism. The Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, together with the town of Hisarya, are presenting the theme “Bulgaria – from Roman antiquity to a modern thermal destination,” introducing visitors to the traditions and contemporary use of mineral waters in balneology, SPA and medical SPA products. The accession of Hisarya to the European Historic Thermal Towns Association (EHTTA) is also highlighted – one of the most significant international recognitions for Bulgarian health tourism in 2025.
The event is part of a consistent strategy to establish Bulgaria on the Austrian market as a destination for sustainable, high-quality health tourism. As a result, the country is already included in the catalogues of leading Austrian insurance companies and pension funds. The official opening was attended by Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Austria, Desislava Naydenova.
