Household deposits in the Bulgarian banking system grew by 13.8%, or nearly BGN 12 billion, over the year to a total of BGN 97.99 billion at the end of October, according to data released by the Bulgarian National Bank on Tuesday. By comparison, at the end of October 2024, deposits amounted to BGN 86.09 billion.
Household deposits account for 44.6% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
Non-financial business deposits amounted to BGN 50.31 billion (22.9% of GDP) at the end of October 2025. Compared to the same month in 2024, they increased by 10.7% (12.9% annual increase in September 2025).
Deposits of financial enterprises grew by 31.3% on an annual basis in October 2025 (18.8% annual increase in September 2025) and reached BGN 4.689 billion (2.1% of GDP) at the end of the month.
Overall, deposits of the non-governmental sector reached BGN 153.4 billion (69.7% of GDP), with an annual increase of 13.2%.
