The Foreign Ministry expressed deep sympathy for the people of Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam as they face devastating floods and extreme weather, offering condolences for the loss of life and livelihoods and wishing strength and a swift recovery to all affected.
“Our thoughts are with the people of Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam suffering the consequences of devastating floods and extreme weather conditions that cost dear loss of life and livelihood,” the Foreign Ministry said in a post on X.
“Extending sincere sympathies to the bereaved and wishes for strength and rapid recovery of all affected,” the post added.
Earlier on Friday, the Foreign Ministry confirmed that 40 Bulgarian tourists were stranded in Sri Lanka due to flooding in the country. Sri Lanka closed government offices and schools after the death toll from floods and landslides in the country reached 56, and more than 600 homes were damaged, the Associated Press reported, citing government officials.
Catastrophic floods have affected millions of people in Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia, DPA reported.
The death toll from floods in southern Thailand has reached 145, authorities said on Friday, quoted by the Associated Press.
