The Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Doncho Barbalov and Andriy Smorodin, President of the Ukrainian national platform Three Seas Initiative, discussed the potential for developing bilateral cooperation and implementing future joint projects, the Ministry said on Friday. Smorodin heads a delegation that includes representatives of major Ukrainian companies operating in transport and logistics, energy and metallurgy.

Smorodin noted that the delegation includes representatives of Ukrainian companies with experience in implementing major infrastructure projects in both the European Union and Ukraine. He said Bulgaria is of interest because of its logistics potential and established industrial zones. The Ukrainian delegation expressed interest in infrastructure projects on which the two countries could work together.

The Deputy Economy Minister said he hoped the visit would lead to the implementation of joint projects and added that the Ministry of Economy and Industry is ready to provide support within its remit.

Barbalov stressed that Ukraine is an important economic partner for Bulgaria and that the Ministry attaches great importance to the development and expansion of bilateral economic relations.

In the first seven months of 2025, trade between Bulgaria and Ukraine exceeded USD 1 billion, as stated during the meeting.
