The French quintet Moragues will perform at the Sofia City Art Gallery on November 1, the team behind the international festival MusicArtissimo Fest said.

Founded in Paris in 1980, the quintet has toured across Europe, the United States, Japan, Australia, and the Middle East. In 1992, Moragues collaborated with legendary Russian pianist Sviatoslav Richter, performing a series of concerts in France and Russia. Their final joint programme - a tribute to Beethoven - was later released by the record label Philips. In 1994, the quintet received the Grand Prix de la Nouvelle Academie du Disque for their interpretation of two Mozart serenades.

Michel Moragues has served as principal flutist of the Orchestre National de France and has been a professor of chamber music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris and the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Rueil-Malmaison since 1989.

He formed the quintet together with his two brothers, Pascal and Pierre, David Walter and Patrick Vilaire. In 1993, he also founded the Musique en Grésivaudan chamber music festival.

Since its launch in 2021, MusicArtissimo Fest has showcased classical music at its highest level, featuring artists at the peak of their careers.
