site.btaBTA Deputy Director General: We Are Trying to Teach Agency's Many Young Staffers Journalism Standards

Many young people come to the Bulgarian News Agency, and BTA tries to teach them the standards of agency journalism, hopefully in a friendly atmosphere, said BTA Deputy Director General Evgenia Drumeva here on Wednesday. She was speaking at the presentation of the book 125 Years Bulgarian News Agency. The Real News. Stories On File: 1989-2023 at the BTA National Press Club.
She noted that many people worked on this book, as well as on the first three parts. "It is no coincidence that the latest edition in Bulgarian was published on BTA's 127th anniversary," Drumeva added.
Wednesday's event also marked the anniversaries of two former directors general of BTA - 80 years for Panayot Denev, who headed the Agency from 1997 to 2002, and 70 years for Ivo Indzhev, who was director general from 1990 to 1993.
Drumeva said that during her time at BTA, she worked with them and the atmosphere was very friendly, with learning taking place directly and in a practical manner. "None of us imagined or suspected what we were getting ourselves into, how much work and how many edits would be required. It is something that never ends. If we continue, we will surely find more things to improve. This is also part of the aspiration of our colleagues at BTA to make everything better and better," noted the Deputy Director General.
Drumeva pointed out that she wants her young colleagues to learn that BTA is independent and does its job professionally. She expressed her hope that the new additions to the team would retain their curiosity and desire to work. "Let's motivate them so that BTA can remain what it has always been," added the Deputy Director General.
Prof. Rumyana Preshlenova, editor of the publication and Director of the Institute of Balkan Studies with Centre for Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, also attended the presentation. "I am not a BTA employee, but thanks to my involvement in the team, I first came into contact with the spirit of BTA, then with Pancho [Panayot Denev], who is the living memory and lived history of BTA, as well as many interesting facts and events captured in this publication," she said.
