Academy of Sciences to Host Conference on “Cultural Heritage in Digital Era”

The Institute of Balkan Studies with the Centre for Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) will hold a scientific conference titled “Cultural Heritage in the Digital Era” on July 30 at the BAS headquarters in Sofia, the Academy said on Thursday. 

The conference will be held within the framework of the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructure, with financial support from the Ministry of Education and Science.

The conference sessions will focus on cultural heritage as an online resource, as well as the past, present, and future of encyclopedias. Participants in the discussions will be Europeana Foundation Executive Director Harry Verwayen, Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Director General Kiril Valchev, who will present the digitization of BTA’s archives, scholars from the Institute of Physical Chemistry at BAS, the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at BAS, and St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia.

The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Rumyana Preshlenova, Director of the Institute of Balkan Studies with the BAS, and Vessela Tsakova from the Institute of Physical Chemistry at BAS.
