site.btaBTA's Archives Sets Example for National Libraries
The National Library and Plovdiv Library are both equally distinguished in terms of heritage, but their outdated concept needs modernization, Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria MP Manol Peykov said during a discussion in the Committee on Culture and Media in Parliament on long-term funding of the National Library.
"I visited the new BTA archive, an institution significantly smaller in volume, and saw exactly what I would like to happen with our two major libraries. I saw a concept, a modern vision, professionally climate-controlled spaces, shelving systems I’ve only seen in movies - ultra-modern. And this was done under the Recovery and Resilience Plan," Peykov added.
He highlighted the efficiency of the digitization team, which managed to digitize nearly 40% of a vast photographic archive within a few months.
