An exhibition titled Transfigurations: The Writer and Artist Mihail Toshkov opens at the National Literary Museum on Thursday, the museum team said.
Toshkov’s only daughter, Ahinora Toshkova, has donated a significant part of his creative and personal legacy—including his work as a poet, art theorist and artist—to the museum.
The exhibition is displayed in the galleries of the National Literary Museum’s High Space Hall.
Ahinora Toshkova has contributed much of her father’s creative and personal archive, preserving the memory of Mihail Toshkov—poet, art theorist and artist—the museum said.
The exhibition is curated by Katya Zografova, literary researcher and chief curator at the National Literary Museum. According to Zografova, Mihail Toshkov was one of the rare creators adept at building dialogue between different arts. Before 1989, he was unpopular in some circles because of his satirical works and caricatures of other artists and public figures, Zografova said, as quoted in the museum’s press release. She added that he passed away at the age of 93, and that his absence has been deeply felt since his death.
The Transfigurations: The Writer and Artist Mihail Toshkov exhibition will be open to visitors until the end of August.
