A total of 218 foreign students from 22 countries are studying at the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse this year, BTA learned from Nevin Hebibova, senior inspector in the Foreign Students Directorate at the university. The largest number of students is from Moldova, Ukraine and Turkiye.
Among the students there are also young people from Austria, Algeria, Armenia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Greece, Israel, India, Kazakhstan, Cyprus, China, Kuwait, Latvia, Republic of North Macedonia, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, and Syria.
International students most often choose majors such as Business Management, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Design. There is also strong interest in medical programmes, such as Kinesitherapy and Nurse.
Hebibova noted that the University of Ruse has long-standing traditions in teaching foreign citizens. So far it has trained students from 59 countries from Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Last year, the University of Ruse celebrated 70 years since the beginning of the training of foreign students and 45 years since the establishment of the unit responsible for language training and assisting students, postgraduates, and PhD students on their path to obtaining knowledge, she told BTA.
