Foxes, vampires and fairies gathered at a fantasy ball to meet bestselling American YA fantasy writer Julie Kagawa. The event took place at the Shtrack Hall in Sofia, on May 30th.
The Fantasy Ball "NeverNever" (Bulgarian: "Nivganigde") was named after the land of fey from Kagawa's Iron Fey Series and ProBook Publishing had specially encouraged fans to come masked.
At the beginning of the party, the team that worked on the Bulgarian editions of Kagawa's books was introduced to the fans. Additional applause was won by the fact that Yassen's name, translated into English, matches that of one of the main characters in The Iron Fairies: Ash.
Autographs and photos with the author followed. Julie Kagawa signed all of the books the fans presented her with many giving her a whole series to sign. She also drew small sketches of dragons, foxes and the likes, next to her signature.
Attendees' names were also put in a bowl and drawn. The prize was a drawing of a fox done by Julie Kagawa herself, which was won by Jordan Petrov, a long-time fan of the author.
Kagawa's fans talked to her, including some budding writers, who asked for her advice.
Readers also received copies of Julie Kagawa's book The Iron Raven, a day before the newly-translated book was available in Bulgarian bookstores. It has since been released to the general public.
