site.btaProf. Christo Pimpirev to Deliver Lecture in Ohrid

On May 29, Prof. Christo Pimpirev will deliver a public lecture on "Half a Century of Bulgarian Scientific Research in Antarctica," the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute (BAI) said on Facebook on Tuesday.  

Pimpirev is President of the BAI Executive Board.

The event will take place at the invitation of the University St. Kliment Ohridski - Bitola, the University's Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality - Ohrid, the University's Hydrobiological Institute - Ohrid, and the Bulgarian Consulate General in Bitola.

Accompanying the lecture will be a photo exhibition on Antarctic topics, a screening of Zhivko Konstantinov's popular science film Antarctica, and a presentation of Iglika Trifonova's book Christo Pimpirev: The Antarctic Hitchhiker.

"Prof. Boyan Biolchev, who was rector of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia in 1999-2007, with family roots in Prilep and a member of three expeditions to the icy continent, will also take part in this first-of-its-kind presentation of Bulgaria's Antarctic activity to our neighbours of the Republic of North Macedonia," the BAI said.
