Seven thousand audiovisual works by directors and producers from 130 countries have been submitted for the 4th Golden FEMI Film Festival in Sofia. The award ceremony will be held at the Sofia Balkan Palace hotel on June 7. Screenings will take place at Lumiere Cinema, the festival management said.
The event will proceed under the auspices of Vice President Iliana Iotova and the European Parliament.
It is aimed at developing the film market by promoting collaboration among producers, popularizing national film industries, and facilitating contacts to make the Bulgarian film industry more visible in the world. Producers from Argentina, Cyprus, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Bulgaria have bid to take part.
The management said that in 2025 the festival will seek to enhance its role as a cultural, educational and producer platform.
Educational events and master classes on choreography as a cinematographic language will be held on the sidelines of the festival.
The artistic manager of the Golden FEMI Film Festival is Bulgarian screenwriter and director Efemia Fard. The international jury comprises directors Arash Fard and Boris Pankin (Bulgaria), director and cinematographer Stefan Boyadzhiev (Bulgaria), filmmakers Kyriakos Tofaridis and Korinna Avramidou (Cyprus), animator Nikolay Matev (Bulgaria), actresses Nona Yotova and Elena Petrova (Bulgaria), critic Afifa Hassainate (UK) and composer Tihomir Hristozov (Bulgaria).
