The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) signed a permanent media partnership agreement on Thursday. The document was signed by Kiril Valchev, BTA Director General, and Hristo Grigorov, Bulgarian Red Cross Chair, at a ceremony at the BTA National Press Club in Sofia.
According to the document, the Bulgarian Red Cross will systematically provide information about its activities, as well as send materials, such as photos and videos, with settled copyright. In addition, BTA will be the organization’s media partner.
The signing was symbolically held on May 8, World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day. Kiril Valchev said that this year the motto of the day is to stand "On the side of humanity".
"Part of our commitment is to show humanity in Bulgarian media, and BTA will now do it even more systematically," Valchev said. "From about 10 to 30 publications in the years before 2020, last year there were 212 reports, which shows us that almost every working day there was a piece about the BRC," he added.
Valchev recalled that so far BTA has signed contracts with many socially important organizations, including the Union of Disabled in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Donors’ Forum, For Our Children Foundation, I Want a Baby Foundation.
The Chair of the Bulgarian Red Cross, Academician Hristo Grigorov, said that the signing of the contract is important because the activities of the organization must reach the public.
