The Geological Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) marks April 22, International Earth Day, with an event to be held at Prof. Marin Drinov hall, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences announced Tuesday.
The programme highlights are related to topical themes for society, on which the scientists from the Geological Institute are actively working, the critical raw materials in Bulgaria. The new National Scientific Programme for Critical Raw Materials of the Institute is to be presented, as well as a successful international project of the Institute, also related to critical raw materials. The programme includes a lecture dedicated to the connections between business and science in the extraction of mineral resources.
The event is to be opened by Geological Institute Director Svetoslav Georgiev. Kirsti Pohjankukka, Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to Bulgaria, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Energy and the Bulgarian Mining and Geological Chamber are expected to attend.
Georgiev and the Ambassador of Finland will plant a Finnish birch in the yard of BAS, the organizers said.
