The LIK typeface of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reflects Bulgarian identity and respect for the Cyrillic alphabet, said Deputy Chair and Chief Financial Officer of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Stanislav Popdonchev during the presentation of the updated typeface in Burgas, on the Black Sea, on Wednesday.
Inspired by the lettering traditions of the disciples of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the LIK typeface is "more than a graphic element", he emphasized and praised the initiative by BTA and its Director General Kiril Valchev, adding that the latest upgrades would support broader international use of the font.
Valchev explained that some of the improvements were introduced following feedback from Popdonchev, who noticed that numbers in charts and tables appeared visually smaller in the original version, making some five-digit figures look shorter. The issue has now been corrected in the updated LIK font.
The LIK typeface was created by a team from the National Academy of Art led by Assoc. Prof. Svetlin Balezdrov as part of BTA's visual identity. Officially registered with Bulgaria's Patent Office, the font is available free of charge to public institutions, schools, universities, and cultural organizations across Bulgaria.
