site.btaBulgarian National Television Board Member: European Media Freedom Act Will Reshape Bulgaria’s Media Landscape for the Better
The challenges and problems faced by public and private media in Bulgaria are at once different and shared, said here Tuesday Anton Andonov, a member of the Board of Bulgarian National Television (BNT). He was speaking at the opening of the a conference titled "The European Media Freedom Act – a framework for independence and pluralism in the European Union" and organized by the Council for Electronic Media (CEM).
Andonov recalled that in recent years there have been many discussions, many attempts to amend the Radio and Television Act – the law that governs our work and largely regulates the relationships within Bulgaria’s media market. "For one reason or another, this did not happen. That brings us to the moment when the European Media Freedom Act, whether we like it or not, will reshuffle some of the rules and relationships in the sector. My belief is that this will happen for the better," Andonov added.
He agreed with the BTA Director General that any single document can be a panacea and solve everything. "At the same time, it is important to have such a document because it does the work that many of us have not done in recent years".
