The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) will provide its LIK typeface to St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia on November 25, following an academic ceremony marking the University’s patron saint’s day. BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and Sofia University Rector Prof. Dr Georgi Valchev will sign an agreement for the use of the LIK typeface.

At 11:00 a.m., the Academic Council, led by Rector Valchev, will lay a wreath at the monument to St Kliment Ohridski and at the monuments of benefactors Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi, as well as at the memorial plaques honouring faculty and students who died for their country during the Balkan Wars.

The academic ceremony will take place in the Aula and will begin at 11:15 a.m. Rector Valchev will address the academic community on the occasion of the patron saint’s day. The ceremony will continue with the presentation of certificates to the newly elected professors for the period from November 25, 2024, to November 25, 2025.

The event will conclude with a musical performance by the University Choir for early music conducted by Krasimira Tsutsumanova. After the ceremony, BTA will officially provide the LIK typeface to the University.

BTA presented its LIK typeface on February 16, 2025, during the celebration of the 127th anniversary of its first newsletter. The font was developed by the National Academy of Art, led by Prof. Georgi Yankov, and a team led by Assoc. Prof. Svetlin Balezdrov and including Kristina Borisova, Zhaklina Zhekova, and Nikolay Petrusenko.

The LIK typeface combines Bulgarian aesthetic standards and modern European and global design trends. It is named after BTA's iconic magazine for literature, art and culture, which was first published in 1965 and relaunched in 2022 as a monthly publication.

So far, BTA has provided the LIK typeface to the Sts Cyril and Methodius National Library, the Ministry of Culture, the National Institute of Justice, the State Institute for Culture, the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the University of National and World Economy.
