Journalists from the Balkan News Directorate of the Bulgarian News Agency and reporter Magdalena Dimitrova from the same directorate received annual awards from the Union of Bulgarian Journalists at a ceremony held at the Bulgarian National Radio in Sofia on Friday.

The Balkan News Directorate won the award in the News Agency category. “This is our third distinction of this kind. We are proud of our cohesive team, I think that shows in our work,” the Balkan News Director, Mina Dimitrova, said.

In the Young Journalist Award under 35 category, the recipients were Daniela Lalova, Stefan Borisov, Simona Aleksieva, Svetlozara Lazarova, Magdalena Dimitrova, Kristiyana Stefanova and David Suknarov. Dimitrova, from BTA’s Balkan News Directorate, said she still had much to learn but thanked the jury sincerely for the recognition.

The award for correspondent of a central media in the country went to Dimitrinka Maksimova from the 24 Chasa newspaper.

The Regional Media Award was presented to the Starozagorski Novini newspaper, whose Editor-in-Chief is Yovka Nikolova.

The Photojournalism prize was awarded to Lyubomir Argirov of Plovdivski Novini.

The Graphic Design and Cinematography Award went to Stoyan Atanasov from Bulgarian National television – Plovdiv.

In the Printing category, the award went to Nikolay Milchev.

Lili Angelova from bTV Radio received the Radio Journalism prize.

In the Television Journalism category, the award was presented to Veronika Dimitrova of Nova TV.

The Book Award went to the team behind the collective monograph Television in Bulgaria 1954–2024.

In the Documentary and Non-fiction category, the recipient was Petko Mangachev for his book Yosif Herbst – Life and Work 1875–1925.

The Dneven Red podcast by Miroluba Benatova and Genka Shekerova was recognized in the Online Journalism category.

The Foreign Correspondent Award went to Branislava Bobanac, the Cyprus correspondent of the Bulgarian National Radio.

The prize for Bulgarian Media Outside Bulgaria was presented to the Austrian outlet Santus et Salvus.

The major Yosif Herbst award for lifetime contribution to contemporary Bulgarian journalism was presented to Lyubomir Peevski of the Bulgarian National Radio.
