site.btaBoyko Borissov: GERB Does Not Want Elections

GERB leader Boyko Borissov said here Friday that his party does not want elections. He was speaking after a meeting of the top party leadership with local coordinators, mayors, government ministers and MPs, and his remarks were livestreamed on Facebook.
The government skipped its weekly meeting this week and Parliament has been unable to secure quorum for a third day now and is not sitting. That is exactly three days after Borissov said that the GERB deputies should head for their constituencies to meet with people. It was his reaction to the outcome of local elections in Pazardzhik where MRF-New Beginning emerged as the leading force and GERB slumped to the sixth position. "I see no place for GERB in such a government. We are the sixth-largest force," he said on October 14, triggering talk of imminent early elections.
Borissov's remark prompted MRF - New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski to say that they were ready to officially "share the government responsibility". Also, he said earlier on Friday that "there will be no elections".
The regional leaders, mayors, and MPs, after their visits to their hometowns and electoral districts, returned with reports that were thoroughly reviewed yesterday, and the results show that no one wants to go to elections, including those from GERB, explained Borissov.
Here is what else the GERB leader said Friday:
“On our mandate, we acted responsibly and formed a government: the fifth one we have put together. Each one was more complicated than the last. When we formed the coalition with Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), we had enough MPs. Back then, while they were intending to send me into retirement, we got the youngest Prime Minister, Kiril Petkov, to retire. Then Assen Vassilev quickly sent him and Lena [Borislavova] both into "retirement". Then we formed the coalition and they brought in MRF to create a stable, strong government. The same people talked about MRF and Delyan Peevski – the "changed", "cool", "best guy".
