Water quality in the coastal towns of Kiten and Sveti Vlas has deteriorated following recent floods in the municipalities of Tsarevo and Nessebar, the Regional Health Inspectorate in Burgas said.

Tap water should not be used for drinking in Tsarevo and Nessebar until two consecutive tests show it is safe. Results from control samples in all affected areas are due out soon.

Burgas Regional Governor Vladimir Krumov called a coordination meeting Wednesday for institutions dealing with the aftermath of the floods.

With the weather improving, clearing operations are resuming in the Elenite holiday complex. Until 5 pm Wednesday, property owners will be allowed pedestrian access to their homes through a checkpoint, but vehicle traffic is banned to avoid obstructing heavy machinery. Between 5 pm Wednesday and 8:30 am Thursday, access will be restricted again for safety reasons.

Electricity and water supplies in Elenite remain suspended as part of safety precautions. Teams are working to restore infrastructure and communications, while the BG-Alert early warning system is being reactivated to keep residents informed.

In Nessebar municipality, applications for reporting property damage are now being accepted. Around 100 people have been accommodated in municipal facilities, where they are provided with food and care. Schools in Sveti Vlas, Kosharitsa, Nesebar, Sunny Beach and Ravda will continue online classes until Thursday, while kindergartens are operating as normal.

Tsarevo Deputy Mayor Denis Dihanov said that clearing and infrastructure repair work is under way in all flood-hit settlements.
