site.btaVazrazhdane: Over 85% of Bulgaria's Water Supply Network in Need of Repair

Over 85% of the water supply network in Bulgaria needs to be replaced, with nearly 2,500 km of pipes in the Burgas Region alone in need of repairs, Vazrazhdane MPs Aleksandar Koychev and Boris Aladzhov said at a press conference on Wednesday in Burgas.
The two MPs stressed that residents of Burgas are highlighting problems such as bad roads, a depreciated water supply network, lack of sewage and transport. "Most often, people complain about the frequent breakdowns in the water supply network, including after recent repairs, such as in the village of Troyanovo, where despite the complete replacement, there have been over 200 breakdowns in the last two years", Aladzhov pointed out. He noted that there is often a lack of investment due to the small number of residents, as the authorities refuse to invest in water supply and sanitation and road infrastructure.
Aladzhov argued that people are very worried about Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone on January 1, 2026. "Inflation is already eating away at the purchasing power of the population", he said.
The Vazrazhdane MPs from Burgas stated that they are set to visit seven more municipalities in the region in September.
