Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov will be heard in Parliament later on Thursday regarding reports of a GPS signal disruption during the landing of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s aircraft at Plovdiv Airport. The hearing is the first item on the agenda of the plenary sitting.
The issue was included in the agenda at the request of MP Atanas Atanasov (Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria), who earlier this week called for the immediate dismissal of acting State Agency for National Security (SANS) Chair Denyo Denev and the urgent convening of the Security Council at the Council of Ministers, citing what he described as a “hybrid Russian attack” against von der Leyen’s aircraft.
Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said Tuesday that there is no reason to investigate the incident involving the EC President's aircraft , as the jamming of a GPS signal is not considered a hybrid or cyber threat.
Another item also added to the agenda is a draft declaration outlining Bulgaria’s position on the European Commission’s proposed mid-term review of cohesion policy.
