The European Youth Olympiad in Informatics (EYOI) will be held in Shumen from August 29 to September 4, EYOI President Biserka Yovcheva said on Monday.

President Rumen Radev will attend the opening of the competition as its patron, said Yovcheva.

She is founder and head of the AiB Shumen School of Informatics.

Teams from 25 countries had registered for the competition, but the representatives of Turkmenistan were unable to obtain visas and will not participate, leaving 96 participants from 24 countries. All participants will be provided with identical computers during the competition, which Yovcheva emphasized was possible thanks to the Vocational High School of Informatics and Information Technologies in Burgas.

The competition is in the standards of the International Olympiad in Informatics. It is held within two competition days with a break in between, Yovcheva said. Between the two competition days, a trip to the Black Sea coast will be organized for the participants, including a visit to Shabla, the caves in the village of Tyulenovo and Shabla Lake.

The awarding ceremony will be held on September 3.
