site.btaSwiss National Killed in Road Accident near Dupnitsa

A Swiss citizen was killed Monday evening in a traffic accident on the road between Dupnitsa and Samokov in Southwestern Bulgaria, the Kyustendil Regional Police Directorate said.

The man, who had entered Bulgaria earlier in the day, was cycling when he was struck by a car driven by a man from Samokov. The incident occurred near the turnoff for Sapareva Banya at around 6:45 pm local time. The cyclist died at the scene.

Police said the driver tested negative for alcohol. A pre-trial investigation has been launched and the prosecutor's office has been notified.
