The wildfire near Sandanski is still raging, Forestry Department Director Simeon Efremov told BTA on Tuesday morning. There is a long front of two to three kilometres that is being processed, he explained. 

There has also been a slight increase in the size of the fire, Efremov said. There are more than 40 forestry workers, over 20 firefighters, and volunteers from all over the region on site. The military will also be helping out with the firefighting on Tuesday.

The wildfire near Sandanski reignited on Sunday due to high temperatures and strong winds. On Monday, two aircraft and a helicopter joined the firefighting efforts, and aerial support is expected on Tuesday as well.
