site.btaCommittee Rejects President’s Veto on Health Insurance Act Amendments

On Wednesday, the parliamentary healthcare committee rejected a president’s veto on amendments to the Health Insurance Act, readopting them. President Rumen Radev returned certain provisions of the Health Insurance Act to the National Assembly for further discussion last week. In his reasoning, he stated that the changes created grounds for limiting the constitutional rights of Bulgarian citizens—specifically, the right to choose treatment at a particular medical facility.
The members of the healthcare committee rejected the veto with 11 votes in favor, 9 against, and no abstentions.
