site.btaTwo Helicopters Assist Firefighters in Bolyarovo

Two helicopters are involved in extinguishing the fire in the area of the villages of Stefan Karadzhovo and Kamen Vrah in Bolyarovo Municipality, the Defence Ministry said on Wednesday. The fire, which broke out on Tuesday, is in difficult-to-reach terrain between the Bolyarovo villages of Kamen Vrah, Stefan Karadzhovo and Dennitsa. 

The helicopters, equipped with an aerial extinguishing system, took off from the Krumovo air base and will assist in fighting the fire by dousing the affected areas with water, the ministry added. A total of 11 firefighting teams consisting of 29 servicemen with six vehicles from the regions of Yambol, Sliven, Stara Zagora and Burgas are participating in extinguishing the fire.

Forestry officials are also involved, Tatyana Pavlova, spokesperson for the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Yambol, told BTA. At the moment, there is no danger to nearby settlements.

The BG-ALERT system was activated early on Wednesday in the municipalities of Straldzha, Bolyarovo and Elhovo, with the message reporting that due to the complicated situation, the fire may enter the village of Kamen Vrah.
