site.btaProsecutor Dimitar Frantishek Sanctioned for Delays and Procedural Failures

The Prosecutors Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council has sanctioned prosecutor Dimitar Frantishek Petrov. The disciplinary measure imposed is a 10% reduction in salary for a period of six months.

On January 15, a disciplinary proceeding was launched against the Sofia prosecutor at the request of the then Sofia City Prosecutor Iliana Kirilova.

The internal review covered the period from June 30, 2021, to June 28, 2024. It found unjustified delays in casework, a lack of consistency and intensity in conducting procedural and investigative actions, and a failure to exercise proper oversight of investigating authorities to ensure the lawful and timely conduct of investigations.

An earlier disciplinary case against Frantishek was initiated after acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov submitted a proposal to the Prosecutors Chamber on August 21, 2024, to open proceedings and impose disciplinary sanctions against the prosecutor from the Sofia City Prosecution Office.
