The United Nations Association of Bulgaria and the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna are the winners of the annual DOCENDO DISCIMUS awards of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute, said Tanya Mihailova, Director of the Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, at a BTA press conference in Sofia.
The award for Bulgarian organization was given to the United Nations Association of Bulgaria, said Mihailova. “The 80th anniversary of the establishment of the UN and 70 years since Bulgaria's membership is celebrated this year,” she added.
The award for a foreign organization or citizen was awarded to the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. “We realize how bold this is because the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna is the oldest diplomatic school in the world, about 270 years old,” Mihailova said. “Fifty-two years ago, the Academy created an international forum for a meeting of Directors of Diplomatic Institutes and Academies to exchange experience. Through this network, the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute accumulates courage and reputation. The award was already presented to Ambassador Emil Brix - a longtime director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna,” said Mihailova.
The annual awards of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute were established in 2013 on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Institute, and are presented for contributions to the prestige of the Diplomatic Institute, said Mihailova.
