Chairman of the parliamentary health committee Prof. Kostadin Angelov (GERB-UDF) gave a briefing for journalists in Razlog on Monday. 

“We must stop pitting professions against each other in healthcare. We have a clear political will to find a lasting solution both in legislation and through changes in the regulations of the executive branch, engaging all the opportunities provided by the state, as well as the management of all medical institutions in the country,” he said. 

His comment was in response to the words addressed to doctors and specialists by the floor leader of There Is Such a People (TISP), Toshko Yordanov.

By July 14, each parliamentary group must submit to the health committee its proposals for legislative changes related to increasing the remuneration of medical professionals, Angelov said. According to him, healthcare has always been part of national security, and what is being done is to find a lasting solution over time, rather than a palliative one to solve the current problem.

“As far as GERB is concerned, we are ready with some proposals, and by the end of this week we will hold a meeting with all interested parties working in the healthcare sector, not just a select group from a particular profession,” Angelov noted.
