PM Convenes Working Meeting on Middle East Situation

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov convened a working meeting on the situation in the Middle East, the Government press service said on Monday. It was attended by Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov, Chief of Defence Emil Eftimov, Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov, Economy and Industry Minister Petar Dilov, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov and representatives of the security services.

On Sunday, the Bulgarian institutions called for de-escalation and dialogue on the situation in the Middle East, following the actions carried out by the US against nuclear installations on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On Saturday, President Rumen Radev said he expects the UN Security Council Member States to find the way to constructive dialogue and thus to prevent the danger of the Middle East situation turning into a global catastrophe.

Also on Sunday, National Assembly Chair Natalyia Kiselova told journalist that efforts by the international community must be based on international law and focused on finding a path to de-escalation and bringing all sides to the negotiating table.

 Currently, there is no immediate threat to the security of the country, the Government stressed.
