Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said that for his party, it is "a matter of pride and honour" that "the prosecution" of MRF - New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski is attacking them. His comments were prompted by the requests for the lifting of the immunity of four MPs of Vazrazhdane, submitted by the acting Prosecutor General to Parliament.

In Kostadinov's words, the ruling coalition is dominated by Peevski, but apart from that, Peevski has a small coalition, which is his private property. It includes MRF - New Beginning, Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, which always support Peevski in critical moments, and 11 MPs of BSP - United Left. “Whenever we have a crunch vote for Peevski, 10 to 11 MPs of BSP - United Left vote in favour, which means that he has bought half of the group there,” Kostadinov argued.

In his words, when it comes to something that concerns Peevski very much, like the issue of the immunity of the four MPs of Vazrazhdane, his private coalition always joins to defend him. Regarding the immunity, Kostadinov said that Vazrazhdane will no longer give victims to Peevski's thugs and his prosecutors. “Let them come to arrest us in Parliament, let them come to arrest our MPs here,” Kostadinov insisted. According to Kostadinov, it is clear who the only opposition is to "the organized crime group New Beginning," which, in his words, should be dismantled.

"When Peevski launches his next offensive against Vazrazhdane, the two poodles - MECh leader Radostin Vasilev and Velichie leader Ivelin Mihaylov - always start yapping," Kostadinov said.

The requests to strip of immunity MPs Slavcho Krumov, Ivaylo Tchorbov, Yordan Todorov, and Nikola Dimitrov of Vazrazhdane were submitted back in February. The four MPs of Vazrazhdane were allegedly involved in unlawful acts during a February 22 protest in front of the European Commission Office in Sofia, organized by the far-right nationalist party against Bulgaria’s planned accession to the euro area. Draft decisions on the lifting of their MP immunity have been submitted several times in Parliament, every time getting rejected by the National Assembly or removed from the agenda.
