Coordination Centre Monitoring Middle East Tensions Ready to React Promptly to Escalations

The Coordination Centre, established in connection with the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, confirmed its readiness to react promptly in case of a possible escalation of the situation and adopted concrete steps to improve the exchange of information between institutions, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday. A regular meeting of the Coordination Centre was held on Monday.

The meeting was chaired by Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev and attended by representatives of the Ministry as well as Bulgarian diplomats from missions in Middle Eastern countries, the Ministry said.

During the meeting the current situation in the region, possible security risks and the necessary measures to protect Bulgarian citizens and diplomatic missions were discussed.

The Foreign Ministry said that it is monitoring the situation in the region in real time and is in constant contact with partner countries and international organizations.

Earlier in the day, Iranian media reported a new Israeli attack in western Iran on the fourth day of the escalation of the military conflict between the two countries.
