The Save Sofia group at the Sofia Municipal Council told journalists on Thursday that the announcement by Vanya Grigorova earlier in the day that she is leaving the Socialist-led group in the local parliament, was "a political earthquake". They urged her to disclose the real reasons for her decision.

Municipal councillor Vanya Grigorova said that she is leaving the BSP for Bulgaria group as of June 12 after "having reached her limit for making compromises".

Andrey Zografski, municipal councillor from Save Sofia, said that she is not just a municipal councillor: she headed the Bulgarian Socialist Party ticket in the Sofia mayoral race and reached the runoffs. "This is a political earthquake, which, however, has its reasons and we, finally, have to say what they are, telling the truth is the right thing to do," Zografski added.

He alleged that Grigorova has been forced to leave - "just like Boris Bonev was forcibly removed by [Sofia Mayor Vassil] Terziev after Bonev helped him get elected to the mayor’s office".
