site.bta18 out of Bulgaria's 28 Districts Are under Heavy Rain Alert


The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a first-degree warning - code yellow - for significant rainfall in 18 districts of the country on Friday. In Western and Central Bulgaria the downpour is expected to reach 15 to 25 litres per square metre, in some places up to 35 litres, according to the map with warning codes for dangerous weather phenomena, published on the NIMH website.
The weather will be cloudy in western and central Bulgaria, and rainy. After noon, rain will fall in the eastern parts. In western Bulgaria, the wind will be oriented from the west-northwest and will be up to moderate, bringing in relatively cold air. In eastern Bulgaria, moderate winds will continue to blow from the south-southeast.
Highs will be 12C to15C degrees in the western part of the country, up to 20C in the east, about 12C in Sofia.
The NIMH has already warned that winds will also be dangerous in 17 districts on May 17, Saturday.
